The last time I went to Disney Hollywood Studios, it was Disney MGM Studios and a lot has changed since the early ’90s. This use to be a half day park but now with everything, it’s a full day attraction.
Once again we met up with John and Glenn in the park. We were pressed for time since we had to head over to Epcot for lunch at Le Cellier. We were able checked out a few places like the 50s Prime Time Cafe (I want to eat here) and The Great Movie Ride. Before you knew it, we had to go.
A short boat ride went from Hollywood Studios to Epcot. It was a nice change of pace not to be packed into a bus. Instead, we took the leisurely cruise that dropped us off right by Epcot’s the United Kingdom and only a short walk to Canada.
Le Cellier was great and lived up to expectations. The food was excellent. I love the cheddar cheese beer soup. Bacony, cheesy and creamy. Add the pretzel bread and there was nothing left to take back to the kitchen. The petit filet melted in my mouth, it was that good. The mushroom risotto was the perfect side too. Finish that off with maple creme brûlée for dessert and this was the perfect lunch.
My one problem is with the two credits for dinner on the Disney Dining Plan. I loved lunch but two table services for one dinner is extreme.
Travel Tip: Don’t be an ass like me. I didn’t realize that the soup wasn’t included in the plan. I ordered it and it was a separate item in the total. I forgot to look at the bill closely and paid what thought was the tip. Instead, that was the cost of the soup. So the waitress was (accidentally) screwed out of a tip. I didn’t realize this until I got home from vacation. I still feel bad about it.
After lunch we were tired and full, so we decided to take the boat across the lagoon. Big mistake. An even bigger mistake was the three jerks ahead of us waiting for the boat. Now three people ahead of you is okay but when they hold a spot for twelve others that’s ridiculous (especially when the wait for the boat was 20 minutes already). Mom almost tip someone in the pond.
We found refuge by the pool at Port Orleans and we kicked back and relaxed until Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party.
