Over the past year, I’ve become a little obsessed with those old-style Mickey Mouse hand bumpers. For you young’uns, Disney Channel once featured old classic movies, cartoons, and educational programming throughout the day.
Every morning, I woke up, Mousercised, and spent the rest of the day watching cartoons. Yes, us 80s babies were raised on nightmare fuel costumed characters on Welcome to Pooh Corner and Dumbo’s Circus shows, but we turned out fine!
Anyhow, between those shows, Disney would run a variety of idents (or are they bumpers?). These stop-motion bumpers were created by Colossal Pictures and usually had a pair of Mickey hands doing various activities. The ending would feature the Disney Channel logo in different forms.
One of my favorites was Mickey’s shopping list. He’s taking a trip to the grocery show and forgets an item. Of course, he grabs it and gets behind an old lady with a packed cart and tons of coupons. OMG, I can relate!
