The last time I went to Disney, the Animal Kingdom was just a hole in the ground. Now it’s a huge park complete with lions, tigers and a Yeti.

We got there right as the park first open and the first order of business, grab a FastPass for the Kilimanjaro Safari. After snagging one and having a couple hours to kill, we boarded the train and headed to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. It was interesting to see all the efforts Disney goes through to help their animals. We even saw a little parrot get help to be back on the road to recovery. That aside, the train ride just isn’t worth it. The long wait times only leads to a payoff of… petting a goat. Yeah, no thanks. They’re smelly, slobbery and gave a big “f you” if you didn’t have food. Well “f you”too goats!

Okay so about this time we were ready to go on the Safari. Right before we were to board, we experienced one of Florida’s famous downpours. It turned out this was a blessing because the animals were out enjoying the rain. I have to say this was my favorite attraction at the park, especially watching the rhinos roll around in the mud.

The Yak and Yeti Food Court I would pass. There definitely was not enough seating and the larger of the eating areas was a short walk away…but carrying a tray of Cokes, food and trying to negotiate people and strollers made it a nightmare. The highlight of the meal, a little duck quaking around looking for food.

We continued on our way and headed to Jungle Trek. I loved this attraction (I loves me some tigers) was well and the theming was above and beyond. The terrain is rough and uneven so be careful if you’re not too stable on your feet. I love people that just breeze through this attraction. There’s plenty of birds to see above your heads if you just look. Geeez, people taking your time it’s vacation time.

Next to Chester and Hester’s Dino Rama. I had loved dinosaurs since I was little and this looked like a really awesome site, but it was a separate fee to play any of the games. Boo. Plus the idea of getting spun around on Primeval Whirl wasn’t exactly appealing.

We did, however, head over to Dinosaur. The dinosaurs themselves were not scary but the bumpy vehicle and the feeling like you’re going to drop scared the hell out of me. I call this the ride that broke Mom. She vowed to never ride that again. We both left out of there completely shaken.

Concluding our Animal Kingdom experience, we waited to see Nemo. This is worth the admission to the park. I loved every part of the show. The actors were amazing as well. It’s definitely worth the wait to see this.

On to my favorite activity: dining at Epcot.
