We woke up today and guess what? It was raining again. In fact pouring down buckets. Not a fun way to start my birthday.
I wanted to head to the Magic Kingdom. Gone was all the happiness and replaced with sogginess everywhere. Disney’s crews tried to keep up with mopping but nothing helped.
Here’s where I got my own special present from Mickey. Mom went to use the bathroom by the Town Hall, I wait outside for her. I’m waiting, waiting, waiting. I’m thinking maybe she walked out and went into The Emporium. I walked down the concrete stairs, slip and take the edge of the stair right on my ass cheek. No one helps me up other than the comment “you should report that Disney, maybe get money for falling.” I’m pretty aggravated and I’m more like get away from me. My present: a Mickey size bruise. Not good. Stupid sandals. I wore them simply because my shoes were soaked from the day before. To make matters worse, I almost take another header in The Emporium. Time for a change: $14.00 later I had nice pink Mickey sandals.
The whole day I did things I wanted to do before we left. I explored Tom Sawyer Island (meh), rode the Walt Disney World Railroad, Dumbo and Winnie the Pooh. The best part was conquering my own fears and taking on Splash Mountain. I had been afraid of this ride since I was a little girl. But after the adrenaline rush of Big Thunder Railroad, I was ready.i kinda regretted once we were in the logs. It’s not just one drop but a series of drops. My big moment of regret was we the boat started to climb up to the top and the vultures were mocking everyone. All I remember is closing my eyes and not being able to scream. Scary but I would do it all over again.
Lunchtime gave us a choice of the Diamond Horseshoe or Columbia Harbor House. We chose Diamond Horseshoe because it’s usually never opened. Let me say, avoid like the plague. One cast member was so rude she ruined my whole experience there. Handing me turkey, saying I ordered turkey when it was ham and then arguing with me really soured me on ever coming back here. What happened to that Disney magic?
We strolled along Fantasyland and Tomorrowland for a little while more. We went inside for Stitch’s Great Escape (pass) and our final MK show Monsters Inc. Laugh Factory. it was cheesy but fun. I kept hoping I wouldn’t get chosen on be on screen. Thankfully I wasn’t.
We made the sad walk pass Cinderella’s Castle and down Main Street. Mom and I took our final pictures and looked one last time at the Magic Kingdom.
